Arjun Kapoor will be next seen in Panipat, a period drama helmed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The actor is essaying the role of Sadashiv Rao who was the nephew of Bajirao Peshwa. When asked if Arjun took any advice from close friend Ranveer Singh who has been in period dramas before.
Arjun Kapoor said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ashutosh Gowariker, both, make magnum opus films but have different temperaments. He said that his director respected his temperament and he wanted to remain loyal to the story. Arjun further said that Ranveer Singh would have given him advice but that would have been from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's point of understanding. Here, he didn't need his advice since both the stories (Bajirao & Sadashiv Rao) were from different eras.
Arjun Kapoor elaborated on his friendship with Ranveer Singh and stated that the latter still gatecrashes his dubbing sessions, sends him long voice messages and gives him kisses on his cheeks. He said that their friendship remains unaffected. He quipped that he tells Deepika Padukone that he is her Souten.
Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor have worked together Gunday. Ranveer also had a cameo in Arjun and Deepika Padukone starrer Finding Fanny.
Coming back to the film, the battle of Panipat is based on the 18th century when the Maratha’s emerged as the most powerful empire in the whole of India but had to fight against Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali when he invaded India. Sadashiv Rao Bhau of the Peshwa Kingdom fought against him leading to the biggest war ever fought in Indian History.
The action-packed period drama is produced by Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar’s company – Vision World, featuring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. Panipat is a Reliance Entertainment Worldwide release. Helmed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the film will release on December 6, 2019.
